The all-new 2020 Bentley Continental GT will come to the dealerships with even more improvements such as stronger engine, a reworked interior, and sharper exterior. Overall, Continental GT hasn’t changed a lot over the year, perhaps because of its huge success.
Having in mind that the world of luxury cars is back on the track, Bentley decided to give Continental GT a well-deserved third-generation. Both exterior and interior borrowed some tweaks from Bentley’s SUV models and overall, GT looks sportier, more luxurious and more powerful.
2020 Bentley Continental GT Engine that makes 700 HP
The latest 2020 Bentley Continental GT will enter its third-generation with the same 6.0-liter W-12 engine. On the other hand, this drivetrain comes with improvements that make new Conti GT even stronger and faster. This mill produces up to 700 HP and 759 lb-ft of torque.
That is 44hp and 133 lb-ft more than the previous model. While those numbers don’t sound like such a great improvement, have in mind that the new GT is 200 pounds lighter, at least. This unit comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
There are four more engines in the offer. The 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that is capable to produce 500 horsepower at 6,000 rpm. This engine is available in Convertible and Coupe variants. The next one is also 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8. This one comes with little better output of 521 horsepower and 502 lb-ft of torque at 1,700 rpm. There are also two more variants with the 6.0-liter W12 engine. One will make 582 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque at 1,700 rpm, while the second one 633 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of torque at 2,000 rpm.
Fuel Economy, Acceleration and Top Speed
The V8 engine that produces 500 HP gives EPA city/highway fuel economy scores of 14/24 mpg for the Convertible model and 15/25 mpg for the Coupe. The same engine that makes 521 HP gives 14/24 mpg Convertible and 15/25 mpg for the Coupe. The model with a W12 engine that delivers 582 HP is able to give 12/20 mpg for the Convertible and 12/21 mpg Coupe, while the other one with 633 HP 12/20 mpg and 12/21 mpg.
The fuel economy on the most stronger W12 engine with 700 HP is not yet rated. This last engine is the quickest in W12 line and it hits from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds. Top speed is 207mph.
2020 Bentley Continental GT Exterior styling is sharp and modern
When it comes to exterior design, the 2020 Bentley Continental GT comes with some minor changes that make styling even sharper. Overall, Bentley is a carmaker that rarely opts for radical changes, so a couple of refinements are everything we can expect. The third-generation suffered more design changes than usual, and we must say that the upcoming 2020 Continental GT looks beautiful. This grand tourer takes a very sporty stance with even more sporty styling cues.
Up front, the grille is wider and lower than before and the nose is lowered too. At both ends of the front grille, round headlights are placed and equipped with smaller units. The headlights feature a new LED Matrix technology. The bumper f the 2020 Bentley Continental GT is slightly wider. The with side intakes sits in line with the bumper. Fresh Continental GT looks longer and lower thanks to the lowered hood and longer wheelbase.
The 21-inch wheels are standard, and 22-inch wheels are an option. The rear will remain the same and the only improvement is LED taillights and Conti GT offers many exterior colors. Some of the paints are Alpine Green Metallic, Anthracite Metallic, Anthracite Satin, Antique Gold, Black Velvet, Cumbrian Green, Dove Gray, Glacier Blue and more.
2020 Bentley Continental GT Interior looks luxurious
The upcoming 2020 Bentley Continental GT comes with a reworked interior that looks astonishing. The layout is basically the same, however, plenty of modern features boost the cabin. The most impressive feature is new infotainment display and is “Bentley Rotating Display”. This 12.3-inch touchscreen is placed in the center stack and it looks gorgeous.
It is a three-sided unit and while rotating, every side shows configurable information such as temperature, chronometer and even a compass. The instrument cluster is also new and if adds a 3D LED lights and high-resolution display. The steering wheel of the 2020 Bentley Continental GT is equipped with numerous small buttons on both sides. The cabin is packed with leather surfaces with contrast stitching and Bentley offers up to 15 upholstery colors. Some of them are Aquamarine, Autumn Hide, Breeze, Burnt Oak, Newmarket Tan Hide, Dark Bourbon, Imperial Blue and Loxley Hide.
2020 Bentley Continental GT Price and Release Date
The 2020 Bentley Continental GT will cost around $220,000. It is a slight price increase thanks to the third-generation changes. The model GT V8 S Coupe and Convertible start at $215,000 and $235,000.
The last one and the most powerful W12 will be in the range from 300,000 to 333,000. This luxurious coupe will hit the markets at the beginning of 2020. The main rivals will be models Aston Martin DB9 and Rolls-Royce Wraith.
