Luxury partners, the Lincoln MKC compact crossover and a full-size Lincoln Expedition SUV, will also get plug-in hybrids and hybrid powertrains respectively.
The Escape Hybrid is being replaced in Ford’s lineup by the 2013 C-Max Hybrid and Energy hybrid plug-in hybrid model, which does not offer a popular utility vehicle or all-wheel drive design as an option. The Ford C-Max Hybrid was also hit with not one but two EPA fuel economy rankings reductions after widespread media coverage and owner complaints that there was no place near their original 47 mpg combined value.
2-hybrid full-size SUVs are just as important as Ford’s work to meet the increasing fuel economy regulations of the company even as its sales mix moves more from passenger cars to bulkier utility vehicles and trucks. The hybrid system used in Ford Expedition will likely find its way into the full-size Ford F-Series pickup truck for 2020 or later, as Ford has long promised.

The 2020 Ford Escape should be available in S, SE, SEL, and Titanium trim levels.
