2021 Ford Escape Redesign, Review, Hybrid, and Price. It is very interesting to follow the compact crossover market recently, especially if you are a fan of hybrid engines. The 2021 Ford Escape Hybrid is the latest player on the market. By next season, a few other carmakers can go the same way, while Toyota is already there with Rav4 and Honda have just launched CR-V hybrid That is not all, though. Ford prepares a plug-in version of this model with a larger drivetrain and more power.

Besides the engines, the new 2021 Ford Escape could face a big redesign to get to the all-new level. The autonomous drive is possible, although we don’t have an official word. On the other hand, trusted sources claim the company is preparing a spectacular system. We were hoping to see it on the new Mach E Mustang-based electric SUV, but the company is not ready for the premiere of the self-driving car yet.

New colors are coming, while the interior gets a new layout. It is even possible to see the compact crossover with three rows of seats. Yes, Ford offers plenty of other 7-seaters and it is hard to imagine the small model to wear so many seats. Hard, but not impossible.

Standard Engines

These are all optional drivetrains for the new 2021 Ford Escape. The base crossover is still going to use a 1.5-liter turbo I3 engine. This configuration is good for 180 hp and 177 pound-feet of torque, while the towing capacity is 2,000 pounds. This is a good result for the compact segment, where most other rivals can not pull more than 1,500 pounds.

Besides the base unit, there is a turbo-four engine with 250 hp under the bonnet. In this case, a 2.0-liter mill is also punching out 275 lb-ft of torque and raises the towing capacity to 3,500 pounds. Still, this is a more expensive option, especially since it comes in the Titanium package.

Here Are 2021 Ford Escape Colors

There are eight available color options for the base S model. All of them are free of charge. You can pick one of the following: Agate Black, Ingot Silver, Sedona Orange, Dark Persian Green, Velocity Blue, Magnetic, Oxford White, or Desert Gold. For all upper trim levels, Ford is adding Rapid Red, which costs $395, and Star White ($ 595). Inside, the S model comes only in Dark Earth Gray cloth, while the SE model adds Sandstone. Hybrid and SEL versions offer the ActiveX package with Ebony and Sandstone colors.
2021 Ford Escape Hybrid Specs

Under the hood of the 2021 Ford Escape hybrid is a 200-hp and 150 lb-ft rated combination of a petrol engine and electric motor. The first impressions about this unit are very positive. Tests say the hybrid rides as the normal gasoline powerplant. Plus, the company used a totally different approach than for its larger models. Explorer and Lincoln Aviator received a treatment that will improve their towing capabilities. On the other hand, Escape hybrid didn’t need that. Engineers aimed for better gas mileage and overall driving impression. And they managed to fulfill the task

Plug-In Hybrid is Novelty for 2021 YM

Not too long after the release of a hybrid model, Ford will add a plug-in version. This system uses a larger battery, which makes Escape PHEV 330 pounds heavier from its counterpart. However, drivers can feel it only at acceleration. A new electric motor is a 14.4-kWh unit, which replaces the 1.1-kWh battery. It also adds 10 hp and a possibility to drive a crossover by using only the electric energy. Precise numbers are not out, but Ford promises 30+ miles in a single run. We have the same promise for the gas mileage of the base hybrid, which is about to return 40 mpg.

2021 Ford Escape ST

Ford Kuga is the European version of Escape. Buyers overseas can purchase a model with the performance-oriented ST package. So, why wouldn’t we get the 2021 Ford Escape ST? It can use a 2.3-liter turbo-four engine that is capable to deliver 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission is a perfect match. We believe that the Escape ST model could drop a 2WD and use exclusively an AWD. Such configuration will push the performance of the compact crossovers to stardoms. Max speed would be under 145 mph and the setup needs less than 6 seconds to sprint 0-60.
