2021 CHEVY COLORADO DIESEL PERFORMANCE
The proven 2.8-liter Duramax four-cylinder engine could be under the revision for the new 2021 Chevy Colorado Diesel. Chevy still hides all details of the next Colorado from the public.
The new model year could bring a new 10-speed transmission as per some reports which could provide some performance and efficiency boost. The current form of the Duramax diesel engine provides 181 hp and torque of 369 lb-ft paired with the six-speed automatic transmission.
The diesel-powered Colorado can tow up to 7, 700 pounds and provide the fuel efficiency up to 30 mpg highway or 25 mpg combined with the rear-wheel-drive setup. The 4WD versions will down the score to 28 mpg highway and 23 mpg combined. The hardcore ZR2 version will be even less frugal with 22 mpg highway.
The Duramax diesel could get a worthy alternative in the 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine which has been mentioned as a possible upgrade for the new model year. Chevy uses this engine in the redesigned light-duty Silverado where makes 310 hp and 348 lb-ft of torque in the combination with the 10-speed automatic transmission.
2021 CHEVY COLORADO DIESEL DESIGN
The 2021 Chevy Colorado Diesel and other versions could get refreshed styling for the new model year but we don’t have confirmation form Chevy. The Chevy Colorado was all-new for the 2015 model year and has been around since then without a major visual update. The new off-road-focused version gained unique styling details and as the reports, the more variants could adopt similar styling treatment.
The next Colorado could use a similar grille style with the CHEVROLET stamping as the ZR2 Bison version as some reports claim. The front bumper and headlights should also appear in the refreshed form. The similar treatment is also expected on the rear side of the model while it will keep the same body shape and dimensions.
INTERIOR, EQUIPMENT
The interior of mid-size Colorado should also get several new touches and features. New material textures should appear on some surfaces and Chevy might also introduce new tech features.
Chevy will use GM’s new infotainment system with the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and Apple Car Play and Android Auto from the base version. The diesel-powered Colorado will be available from the next Work Truck trim where will appear with the cloth upholstery, floor mats, carpeting. This trim should also offer options such as keyless entry, 4G LTE connectivity, etc
. In the upper grades, the Colorado will gain upgraded 8-inch center display, leather surfaces, heated seats, a navigation system, Bose sound system and more.
The off-road runners can equip the truck with the Z71 package which adds locking differential, all-terrain tires, off-road-tuned suspension, etc. The ZR2 versions add more off-road capability with the wider track, larger wheels, lifted suspension, skid plates, upgraded axles, etc
. What is also important, the next Colorado could expand the list of the safety equipment with the new crash avoidance tech including automatic emergency braking.
