2022 Chevy Blazer: ZR2, SS, Trailblazer, & Photos

2022 Chevy Blazer: ZR2, SS, Trailblazer, & Photos. Blazer is a new SUV, a competition to the Ford Bronco. General Motors already unveiled details about the vehicle that will be available as the 2021 YM, while we are still waiting on the Blue Oval company. Nevertheless, there are a lot of rumors surrounding the 2022 Chevy Blazer. The SUV is not suffering any cosmetic changes. Existing trim levels will be carried over. But, special models are causing a lot of attention.

2022 Chevy Blazer Powertrain

Before we move on and see what are the possible changes for the 2022 Chevy Blazer, let’s go through the basic offer.

Trim Accessories and levels

There are four base trim levels available for the 2022 Chevy Blazer, and the LT is split into three versions. The L is offering cloth upholstery and 18-inch wheels. The center of the multimedia system is an 8-inch screen, with available Apple CarPlay and Android Auto services. The base LT model will offer you a power driver seat, tinted glass, and satellite radio. LT2 upgrades the performance with a turbo engine, as well as safety with an advanced package. The 3LT comes with leather upholstery, heated seats, and a keyless start. The next model is Blazer RS, where a V6 is standard. Navigation, 20-inch wheels, and a power tailgate are other additions. The top of the lineup model is the Premier, with all the most advanced accessories Chevrolet can offer. A heated steering wheel, ventilated seats, and wireless charging are notable additions.

Four-Cylinder, Turbo, and V6 are Engines

The 2022 Chevy Blazer is a mid-size SUV. By taking a look at other models in the same class, we assumed the main source of power should be a V6. Chevrolet made a 3.6-liter unit the most potent powerplant in the lineup. It produces 308 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. We can praise this engine as one of the most reliable ones the GM is using. Front- and all-wheel drive are options and the mill returns 23 mpg combined.

Still, the base offer includes a weak four-cylinder drivetrain. A 2.5-liter inline-four is making 193 hp and 190 lb-ft of twist. This is something we expect from a compact crossover, not a 191-inch long SUV. The company fixes the issue with a turbo-four unit. A 2.0-liter turbocharged version will create 225 hp. It is also the most efficient engine in the squad with 22/29 mpg. Inline-four configuration consumes 24 mpg combined.

2022 Chevy Blazer SS

Most rumors are mentioning the 2022 Chevy Blazer SS version. This should be the performance-oriented package that will expand the lineup from a single choice in Camaro SS muscle car. There are also rumors about other models that could get the same upgrade. It is still unknown if the Blazer SS is getting some high-performance engine, but the power upgrade is definitely a key. Plus, there are some notable accents and modifications, wheels, bumpers, and a sportier interior. The 2022 Blazer SS is not going to be a seven-seater, for sure.

2022 Chevy Blazer ZR2 Off-Road SUV

This is a more likely outcome. The ZR2 is an off-road package that makes the Colorado truck one of the most popular models in the market. It also uses a V6 engine. The more potential is achieved when the pickup is using an oil-burner. The 2022 Chevy Blazer ZR2 could also get a 2.8-liter Duramax turbodiesel with 190 hp and 370 lb-ft of torque. Towing capacity and fuel economy will get a significant boost. Special suspension setup and Fox shocks should be the upgrades for a more comfortable off-road drive. This version is a rival to the Bronco Raptor if Ford decides to go with the meanest upgrade for its vehicles.

2022 Chevy TrailBlazer

It might sound similar, but the Chevy Trailblazer is something completely different. The small crossover will fit between subcompact Trax and compact Equinox. The company will use similarities to give a strong start to the new model. The latest design language will be used, as well as some of the existing vehicles. We can also hear that Trailblazer SS could hit the market, but like for the Blazer, there are no further details beyond the speculations.

Release Dates of Special Editions

The standard lineup for the 2022 Chevy Blazer remains the same, so there is no too much euphoria about it. But, all the possible upgrades, including Blazer K5, will cause a lot of attention. The SS is definitely the top wish, but we assume fans wouldn’t be unhappy with an off-road ZR2 version. Chevrolet will unveil details in the second half of 2021. The base version keeps the price at around $29,000. The Premier version starts at $43,000 and goes up to $50,000. That is where we can expect ZR2, while the SS is probably going to cost even higher.
