2021 Kia Seltos Specs, Dimensions, Price, and Release Date. The 2021 Kia Seltos will surprisingly appear in the US. The Korean company introduced this crossover a few months ago in India. Since these two markets are usually offering different models, we didn’t see the Seltos coming to the United States. Now it is official, and we have the first details about the new vehicle.
The highlights of the new crossover by KIA is a very attractive price and two engines. Of course, the fresh offer will also bring an attractive warranty. Still, a lot of questions are still open. The company said the 2021 Seltos is spacious, but precise numbers are missing both for cargo space and fuel economy.
2021 Kia Seltos Engines
The 2021 Seltos will use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder powerplant rated at 146 horsepower. This is more than subcompact crossovers are delivering, so the new model could settle between Sportage and Soul. The company also let us know which trim levels will offer the base engine– LX, S, and EX. The top of the class unit is SX, and this one is going to offer a 1.6-liter turbo unit with 175 horsepower. All-wheel drive and a seven-pace DCT automatic gearbox are standard here.
Trim Levels
By accident or not, we already have trim levels available for the new 2021 Kia Seltos. The base offer, like for most of the lineup, starts with the LX. The starting price is slightly higher, at $22,000. Sportage costs $24,000 and the lower-tier Soul is available for $17,500. S and EX are the mid-range offer. We believe these two will cost between $24-25k. The SX, with an engine that produces extra power, will have a price of $27,000 and higher.
2021 Kia Seltos Offers Similar Design Like The Ford Escape
The forthcoming 2021 Kia Seltos will look sharp and refreshing. The exterior is similar to the concept that was presented earlier this year. LED headlights are looking unique and are wearing so many details. The same headlights perfectly blend with the “Tiger Nose” grille design. The rear end is very similar to the Ford Escape’s model.
However, Seltos looks more angular than the Ford Escape and definitely sharper. Taillights are similar to Hyundai’s Venue model. Dimensionally, 2021 Seltos is a very subcompact crossover. It is 170 inches long and 70 inches wide. This crossover is 64 inches tall. The wheelbase is rated at 103 inches and Seltos offers 7.5 inches of ground clearance.

The arriving subcompact crossover looks small, modern and comfy. The 2021 Kia Seltos will be an affordable model that won’t look cheap from the inside. Whatsoever, Seltos offers a very upscale cabin with modern features. List of standard and optional features are long. For that reason, you can find plenty of great amenities in the offer.
A 10.25-inch touchscreen comes with a split-screen function for the infotainment system. Seltos comes with a head-up display. Ambient lighting is available too. Interior has eight different lighting colors. Moreover, Kia offers six different color themes. The UVO app comes with remote access about the diagnostic data. It also supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
2021 Kia Seltos Powertrain Details
We are still waiting for Kia to publish American-spec Seltos. However, the 2021 Kia Seltos will offer up to three engine choices, globally. One of these engines will surely find its place in North America. Seltos starts with a standard 1.6-liter four-cylinder unit that is producing 177 horsepower. It is the most powerful drivetrain in terms of horses.
A 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated engine delivers 149 HP. Finally, a 1.6-liter turbodiesel is available and it cranks out 136 horsepower. All three units will use an automatic transmission. More details will become available in the coming weeks. On top of that, Seltos will deploy a front-wheel-drive as standard.
Release Date
The 2021 Kia Seltos is not available for purchase yet. The company announced the new model, but the dealerships won’t see the crossover before the second half of 2020. Still, fans will get more updates at other upcoming car shows (NY, Chicago, Detroit).
