2022 Mazda CX-9 Changes, Review, Specs, and Price. The upcoming 2021 Mazda CX-9 will arrive in the United States later next year. This crossover will enter the production anytime soon in the plant shared with Toyota. It is a seven-passenger model with three rows of seats. Unlike the current model, new CX-9 will introduce fewer changes and upgrades.
Visually, Mazda will deliver new exterior colors and small modifications. From the inside, CX-9 will get plenty of high-tech updates.
2021 Mazda CX-9 Powertrain
The upcoming 2021 Mazda CX-9 will continue to ride on the same engine lineup. This crossover offers a 2.5-liter four-cylinder as standard. This gasoline engine comes with a turbocharger and it produces 277 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. A 6-speed automatic gearbox comes as standard. On top of that, front-wheel-drive is standard as well. An all-wheel-drive system is optional.
With the FWD this engine delivers 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. AWD setup lowers the fuel economy but not drastically. CX-9 crossover can tow up to 3,500 pounds.
2021 Mazda CX-9 Redesign
The all-new 2021 Mazda CX-9 will continue to look like the CX-5 model. However, this is an elegant crossover SUV with a longer hood and slimmer headlights. The model looks very attractive and modern. For 2021, CX-9 comes with a slightly larger grille. The rear part is highlighted by the pair of relatively fresh exhaust pipes.
Horizontal taillights are providing a sporty appearance. Mazda will introduce small modifications on its arriving crossover. Lights are reshaped and the manufacturer will introduce new exterior colors. 18-inch wheels are standard while you can opt for the optional 20-inch rims. A power liftgate is another optional feature that is standard on the range-topping trim levels.
2021 Mazda CX-9 Design and Cargo Capacity
From the inside, Mazda’s newest crossover will continue with the same seating layout. That means the 2021 Mazda CX-9 will remain a three-row seven-seat model. Dimensionally, this crossover SUV will largely remain. For that reason, the interior room is the same as in the current model. Comfort is guaranteed but the third row is recommended for kids only. Center console looks wide and it hosts a 7.0-inch touchscreen as standard. Optionally, Mazda offers a larger display and plenty of other premium amenities.
Cargo area is rated at 38.2 cubic feet with the third rows seats folded flat. The new crossover comes with base cloth upholstery and a rearview camera. It comes with plenty of standard features and additional safety aids.
Price and Release Date
The price of the all-new 2021 Mazda CX-9 will cost $33,000. It is the same price as the price of the current model. The number of upgrades is too minor so the price largely remains.
However, CX-9 could get significant updates in 2022. This crossover will arrive in numerous trim levels. It will hit the dealerships in the second half of 2020.
