2022 Mazda CX-5 SkyActiv Engines

So, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder takes the position under the bonnet. A six-speed auto transmission could be replaced. Still, the CX-5 will be one of the most efficient crossovers in the market with 28 mpg of combined fuel economy. A four-pot unit can also tow quite a bit– 2,000 pounds. The standard setup includes front-wheel drive and AWD is optional.
The same engine and transmission are available at higher trim levels. However, the turbocharged unit brings more of everything. The outputs are 250 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque and the towing jumps to 3,500 pounds. Still, the company recommends a premium fuel to achieve the best results. Otherwise, the engine will make 227 hp and 310 pound-feet.
The 2022 Mazda CX-5 Diesel is one of the most interesting models in the lineup. Still, it is not bringing all the advantages you expect from an oil-burner. Why? As said, the Japanese company and its engineers are combining the best elements of two types of powerplants– diesel units are not high polluters, while the petrol mills return the gas mileage of oil-burners. So, a 2.2-liter turbodiesel will produce 170 hp and 290 lb-ft, at the same time making 27/30 mpg.
CX-50 EV Debuts After 2022 Mazda CX-5
It seems like the 2022 Mazda CX-5 is the last model with this nameplate. The manufacturer is serious about the replacement and the new CX-50 will be an all-electric crossover. Still, engines with internal combustion are not going to be entirely dropped.
The upcoming nameplate will update the look as well. However, there are no further details upon the CX-50. The range should be over 200 miles and larger batteries will probably go up to 300 miles between recharges. The autonomous drive is possible. Mazda already unveiled plans to develop such systems. The top of the class trim levels are using a turbocharged engine. The power upgrade, the company is also adding the best equipment. The Reserve model will come with heated rear seats and ventilated front buckets. These are the things you will have to purchase optionally even on luxury crossovers.
HUD is also standard. The 2022 Mazda CX-5 Signature is adding navigation, genuine leather, and unique trims. The price for this one goes over $40,000 with upgrades, which is a better offer than to start with the base package of some premium SUV.
