2019 Acura Super Handling SLX Concept & Pictures. Acura has recreated the magic of its first All Wheel Drive SUV while launching its remodeled version the 2019 Acura Super Handling SLX Concept in Orange County at the RADwood auto show.
It was particularly launched at the show to celebrate Company’s great selling in North America, i.e. selling one million SH-AWD vehicles. To reminiscent, the charm of the 90’s Acura tried to make minimum changes in the cabin as well as the outlook of the new Super Handling SLX Concept The restoration was done on the ‘donor car’, which was the Acura SH SLX 1997 model.
ENGINE
The team faced lots of challenges while remodeling the 90’s beauty. The biggest one was to fit in the new engine in the old body. Previously it was a 3.2-liter V6 engine that was fitted longitudinally, now it was replaced by a transverse 2.0-liter VTEC engine. However, the team did its best to make it possible. The new VTEC race-tuned engine is equipped with the latest gen of the SH-AWD torque vectoring system with the ten-speed automatic gearbox. The raving engine is able to produce an output of 450 horsepower and torque of 340 pounds-feet. It is the same engine you will find in the latest model of RDX vehicle.
2019 ACURA SUPER HANDLING SLX CONCEPT INTERIOR/ EXTERIOR
The cabin of the new Acura SH SLX concept is equipped with all the latest technologies and trims. Modern wood is used for door and panel and dash trim. The old seats are replaced by Milano ‘gathered’ leather seats in dark grey tone. Customized floor mats are prepared by Llyod Mats with the logo of ‘Acura’ on them, whereas the headliners and carpets remain untouched.
The outlook of the new 2019 Acura Super Handling SLX Concept is quite similar to 1997’s model with a new exterior paint finish. Just like the old model the new Acura SH SLX also showcased in two-toned body, one was Performance Red Pearl along with Champaign silver used for lower trims, bumpers, and fenders.
The track width shows an increase of 4.8 inches at the front as compared to its predecessor and its now 64.4 inches wide. Whereas the rear is widened by 5.3 inches and it now measures 65.1 inches. The stock wheels are substituted by 17-inch Tarmac tires housed by All-Terrain tires of Yokohama Geolander.
PRICE AND RELEASE DATE
Being a Concept car the new Acura SH SLX is not going to hit the dealership soon. However, while looking at the response from the customers, we can expect to see the reshaped version in the future.
