2022 Range Rover Evoque Changes, Price, & PHEV Range. Evoque is the newest and the smallest Range Rover model. The company is upgrading the offer with new versions. Changes will happen on the body and under the hood. The 2022 Range Rover Evoque plug-in hybrid is already confirmed, and the British carmaker is not hiding the long-wheelbase version with extra space inside the cabin. The subcompact crossover will fix one of the major issues– the passenger’s comfort.
A pair of existing engines will keep the small SUV performances high. In both cases that is a 2.0-liter unit, but configured to deliver 250 or 300 horsepower. Next season, the PHEV setup is about to debut, based on the three-cylinder mill. The price of the subcompact crossover is pretty hefty, starting above $42,000. The plug-in hybrid will improve the specs and increase the cost. Some sources (Autoexpress) even claim that 2022 Range Rover Evoque could go all-electric.
Engines and Specs
Under the hood of the 2022 Range Rover Evoque is a 2.0-liter engine. Buyers can choose if their configuration will come only with a turbocharger, or a mild-hybrid system is enhancing the drivetrain. In the first case, they will get 250 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. A nine-speed automatic gearbox will be standard all across the lineup. A smart AWD will send power to both axles, or only the front one if the traction boost is not required. Since the base model is coming mostly unchanged, we expect the fuel economy at the same level. For the subcompact luxury SUV, 20/27 mpg is very poor output.
A mild-hybrid system available for the R-Dynamic version will add 50 more ponies, but it costs you one point from the gas mileage. The same 2.0-l engine is the base of this setup. Again, the same transmission is there, while extra power will need less time to sprint to 60 mph. In both cases, engines require premium fuel.
2022 Range Rover Evoque Plug-In Hybrid and EV
The 2022 Range Rover Evoque Plug-In Hybrid will replace a 2.0-liter engine with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder powerplant. Turbocharged, it can provide 195 hp. Add a 15 kWh battery and the total output jumps to 305 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. This model will arrive at the market as 2022 YM under the badge Evoque P300e. The PHEV system will need 6.5 seconds to accelerate 0-60 mph. If charged 30 minutes on a fast-charging system, the small battery can get up to 80 percent of power. The crossover can also drive by using only electric power. The range of this mode is 41 miles. A standard piece of equipment is a home charger. It is a bit slower, taking 6 hours 40 minutes for the full recharge.
The latest reports say that even the all-electric model is possible. There are no doubts that in future JLR will introduce such a vehicle. For 2022, other priorities are on the list. For example, Jaguar I-Pace is also coming as the EV.
The new generation of the Evoque introduced the First Edition. Well, this one drops from the lineup in the future. There are two remaining versions available, plus the upcoming P300e PHEV. The standard package includes LED head- and taillights, rain-sensing wipers, body-color roof, and 18-inch wheels. Ambiental lighting, two-zone climate control, leather steering wheel, and navigation are also part of the entry-level package.
If you choose the R-Dynamic version, then the special exterior package is enhancing the styling. Unique wheels and badges will make this model different. Inside, upscale materials are wrapping seats, unique themes enhance the elegance, while a 10-inch screen sits at the center of the dashboard. S and SE specification packages are available for the 2022 Range Rover Evoque Standard and the R-Dynamic also adds the HSE. All of these bundles hold special convenience, safety, exterior, and interior upgrades.
2022 Range Rover Evoque Price
The base price of the 2022 Range Rover Evoque is already above the competition. The subcompact crossover starts at $42,000 for the Standard edition, and the R-Dynamic increases the cost to $47,000. Each additional package adds $4,500 to the previous upgrade. The heavily loaded R-Dynamic HSE can reach nearly $60,000. At this cost, we can find luxury mid-size SUVs with a lot more space and power.
If you are not looking for a larger vehicle, alternatives for the Evoque are numerous. Lexus UX costs only $32,000 and Volvo XC40 is $34,000. However, the electric version of the Swedish crossover will cost $56,000 when it appears next season. Other alternatives are coming from Germany. BMW X1 and Audi Q3 are very similar, with all the options they offer and the price the companies set for their products.
