2021 Lincoln MKX Hybrid, Rumors, Price, and Redesign. The comfortable mid-size crossover has been around for more than a decade. Last year, we saw a big change in the company’s naming policy, so instead of the 2021 Lincoln MKX, you will see a brand-new Nautilus. A completely new name, the Nautilus isn’t a completely new model.
It has plenty of MKX’s DNA, so you won’t mistake too much if you use the old name. Simply, the core of the old model has remained the same, while there are completely new aesthetics, based on the brand’s latest design language. The new nameplate has been introduced this year, so we don’t expect bigger changes in the next couple of years.
Engines
The re-branded 2021 Lincoln MKX, or now the Nautilus is a quite comfortable crossover. On the other side, it definitely won’t impress you in terms of performances. You won’t get too much athleticism from this car, but the engines are quite powerful and dynamics are pretty good.
Base models come with a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which is good for about 250 horsepower. Still, an optional 2.7-liter turbo V6 seems like a much better deal, as it delivers full 335 horsepower. Both engines come in pairs with an 8-speed automatic transmission, which works great.
Exterior
This is where the new Nautilus has received most novelties. While the mechanics are pretty much the same as in the initial model from thee years ago, this Ford Edge-based crossover features a completely new styling.
The new aesthetics follow the brand’s latest design language, which was introduced with the current-generation Navigator a couple of years ago. Practically, the whole sheet metal has been replaced, so the new model looks significantly more attractive and more up to date.
Interior
You may notice that the interior of the new Nautilus looks quite familiar. That’s because the new model features pretty much the same overall design as the MKX. The dashboard is largely the same, although we can notice the notably higher quality of materials.
Thee is a new steering wheel, new instrument cluster, touchscreen etc. The general impression is that the new model looks nice, although most rivals feel more upscale. Still, we like the fact that the cabin is pretty quiet and that the ride is very smooth.
2021 Lincoln MKX Release Date and Price
We expect to see the new model sometime in the last quarter of next year. The current model starts at around $40,000 and we don’t expect bigger changes in the future.
