2021 Jeep Compass: Redesign, Interior, Hybrid, and Rumors. FCA plans to electrify most of its SUVs in the coming years. The all-new 2021 Jeep Compass Hybrid is a typical example of the brand’s plans for the future. While it won’t arrive in an all-electric version, Compass will get its first plug-in hybrid version. Jeep offers an impressive lineup of crossovers and SUVs and Compass is the latest model that is going greener.

2021 Jeep Compass Powertrain

This model slots between Renegade and Cherokee SUVs. For that reason, it is hard to determine its real competitors. Hybrid powertrain, Compass will get numerous cosmetic upgrades. Even the interior will suffer a couple of refinements. Compass won’t get a redesign as it is the fourth year of its production.

Hybrid Powertrain

Jeep revealed its plug-in hybrid version a couple of months ago. Dubbed the Compass 4xe, this version will become available in the United States. The 2021 Jeep Compass Hybrid will feature this system that provides around 31 miles of EV driving range. The rear-wheel-drive system is offered as standard. Once the batteries run out of power, the gasoline engine will kick in powering the front wheels.

We are still waiting for Jeep to release official details. Regular Compass will continue to roll on its 2.4-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with 180 horsepower. 9-speed automatic transmission will remain as the only gearbox option.

Exterior Design

We don’t expect major visual improvements as new 2021 Jeep Compass Hybrid is ready for another mid-cycle refreshment. It is important to say that the hybrid version won’t depart from the regular gasoline-powered Compass. Overall, Compass is similar to the larger Grand Cherokee SUV. For 2021, the design language will stay intact. Compass will also continue to offer a recognizable seven-slot grille and angular headlights.

To the sides, trapezoidal fender flares are slightly modified and this model now features sharper lines. We don’t know if Jeep will offer a new roof paint job or different exterior colors. The rear end will largely remain. If you want better performance and off-road capability, the Trailhawk variant is the best option. This trim level won’t feature a hybrid powertrain.

2021 Compass Hybrid Gets the Next-Generation Uconnect System

All of the Jeep and Fiat Chrysler models will get the next-generation Uconnect infotainment system for 2021. The upcoming 2021 Jeep Compass Hybrid will be no different. This is the most significant upgrade for sure. Some rumors are saying that only brand-new or redesigned models will feature a new Uconnect system.

Lower-grade trim levels are using a 7-inch touchscreen, while upper trims will use the larger 8.4-inch unit. New driver-assistance aids will be optional and active cruise control is just one of these features. If you want more luxury, the Limited model is the best trim level you can opt for.

If everything goes according to plan new 2021 Jeep Compass Hybrid will go on sale by the end of the year. The COVID-19 pandemic will most likely force manufacturers to delay their plans. The price of the Compass Hybrid will start between $35,000 and $40,000. Most likely rivals are Ford Escape and Honda CR-V.
