2020 Ford F-150 Redesign, Raptor, Rumors, Hybrid, Diesel. The upcoming 2020 Ford F-150 Hybrid is the very first company-s hybrid pickup truck. The F series made a huge success and year after year is the best selling truck in America for almost 40 years. Now, the manufacturer feels it is time for some future investing, especially in hybrid technology.

As ford has stayed hush on the 2020 F-150 Hybrid, we’re left to speculate. The things they have said about this vehicle are the following:

With the 2018 Ford F-150 Diesel having pushed the boundaries of fuel efficiency in a pickup truck once this year, we don’t expect the jump for the Hybrid variant’s efficiency to be insignificant. We may even see it break 6 L/100km.

While power and torque are the primary concerns for pickup truck drivers, we ‘d like to bring tidings of good news– hybrid powertrains and electrified engine components are great at spitting out low-end torque. We expect the torque figures for the 2020 Ford F-150 Hybrid to be 400 lb-ft. or higher.

We know drivers are unlikely to buy into anything that can’t put up solid 300 lb-ft. numbers, so our official estimate is that torque will fall in the 350– 420 lb-ft. range.

Why Make a Hybrid Pickup Truck?

For reasons entirely of the automotive industry’s making, hybrids are often seen as opposites to a pickup truck. Originating as goofy-styled, water-droplet-shaped, bright-colored machines, they began seeking to not only deliver amazing fuel efficiency but signal that the driver cared a lot about nature.

Hybrid powertrain technology is a wonderful way to save fuel without necessarily sacrificing power, the perception of hybrids is still very tied to this sort of caricature– a caricature that doesn’t really overlap the pickup truck market in any way.

The biggest reason to make a hybrid pickup truck is that people like to save money and hybrid engines allow you to do that. Additionally, they can do all of this without sacrificing the power and torque pickup truck drivers expect out of their engines.

When is the 2020 Ford F-150 Hybrid Going to Be Released?

We don’t have an answer to this yet but we hope to know more about the specifics behind this innovative truck platform soon.

It may even make its debut at the Chicago Auto Show in February or the New York International Auto Show in April. With Ford being a staple for the city of Detroit and doubling-down on their investment in the city with the purchase of an old Detroit Train Station for electronics engineering and innovation, we expect to see the first in-the-flesh version of the F-150 Hybrid at the Detroit Auto Show in January of 2019.

We’re talking about surprise parties because they represent a pure surprise. Pure surprise is something that doesn’t come around much. Being able to experience something without any inkling it was going to happen is a powerful feeling– whether that thing is positive or negative.

Luckily, the latest pure surprise Ford has dropped on us was the former.

A couple of months ago, Ford surprised the trucking world and automotive industry when it announced that Canada’s favourite pickup truck– the F-150– would be getting a gasoline/electric hybrid variant.
